How to find us

Arrival by subway
Take the subway line U6 with destination “Garching-Forschungszentrum” and get off at the terminal station “Garching-Forschungszentrum”. Walk about 300 meters in the driving direction of the subway along “Boltzmannstraße”. Then you are at “Coulombwall”. The LEX Photonics/CALA building is the elongated flat building on your right. The main entrance is just at the west end of the building.
Arrival by car
Take the Autobahn A9 and take exit no. 70 “Garching Nord/Forschungszentrum TUM”. Follow the signs “Forschungszentrum TUM”, you will be directed to “Ludwig-Prandtl-Straße”. At the next intersection, turn left onto “Freisinger Landstraße”, and immediately take the next right onto “Lichtenbergstraße”. After about 700 meters turn left onto “Boltzmannstraße”. This leads directly to the LEX/CALA building. In front of the building you can turn right into “Coulombwall”, where you will also find parking spaces.
Arrival from Munich Airport
After arriving at Munich Airport, you should take public transportation, as cabs to Munich usually take longer than the S-Bahn and are expensive. Trains on the S8 line run every 20 minutes. The route in the airport building to the S-Bahn is clearly signposted. There are two ways to the LEX: Either take the S-Bahn S8 in the direction of Munich, getting off at “Marienplatz station”. Change to the U6 in the direction of “Garching-Forschungszentrum” (leaves from a lower level). Continue as described under Arriving by subway. Or: Take the S-Bahn line S8 to “Ismaning station” and from here either take a cab or the bus line 230 (see Arriving by bus).
Arrival by train
After arriving at the main station in Munich, walk to the S-Bahn station (level below). The way is signposted. From platform 1 take any train in the direction of “Ostbahnhof”. Get off at “Marienplatz station”. Walk to the subway (level below) and take the U6 in the direction of “Garching-Forschungszentrum”. Continue as described under Arriving by subway.
Arrival by bus
Bus line 230 runs from “Ismaning S-Bahn station“ to “Garching Research Center”. The bus stop closest to LEX is called “Boltzmannstraße”. Then continue as described under Arriving by subway.
Tickets for public transport
Tickets are sold at all S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations by means of vending machines, buses by the driver and for the streetcar also by means of vending machines on the train or at the stop. Otherwise, it is recommended to download the MVV app to your smartphone. Clicking on “Fares” in the right navigation will take you to the MVV fare navigator. Here you will find more information about tickets. Please note that entering the S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations is only allowed with a valid ticket (outside of Munich, however, the ticket machine is usually located directly on the platform). After purchasing the ticket, it must be validated in the blue box before starting the journey or when boarding the bus/tram. For trams/buses, the ticket must be validated directly when boarding.
